C'mon Spring!

I just heard that snow is in the forecast for this weekend, so I needed a pick-me-up!  Pronto!  I think that yellow is an automatic mood lifter.  Yellow = Happiness.  (In my book at least.)  Thankfully, I have a Vegas trip booked in a couple weeks.  I need to get out of the Midwest and away from this unpredictable weather.

Wardrobe Must: Knit Sweaters

Chunky Knits?  Yes Please!  ...Under $100?  I'll take three.  
One of my favorite things about Fall/Winter is wrapping myself up in a huge chunky knit sweater.  Who, What, Wear....knows what's up!  .... You don't have to spend an arm and a leg to look fabulous.  All of these sweaters are under $100!  
Thanksgiving is tomorrow and Christmas is right around the corner.  Sounds like a great excuse to treat yourself to an early Christmas present.  You deserve it!

My husband and I are planning a trip to New York in December.  We love NYC so we try to make a trip there at least once a year.  My husband planned the most romantic proposal for me in New York's Central Park...so the city will always be a special place to visit.

We have our favorite places to go and things to do while we're there, but NYC is just too amazing to stick to your favorites every time you go.  Besides that, we just love digging into culture, exploring fun sights and experiencing new restaurants.

Turns out I fell upon this fun article that was written back in October for the New York Post.  In the article, Patricia Field shares some of her favorite things about New York.  I'm going to mix up our December trip and try to visit some of Pat Field's favorites.  ...Should be fun!  When in Rome.... or rather when in NY...do as Pat Field would do. 

....So, without further ado...
Here is Pat Field's New York:

1. Il Posto Acanto, 190 Second St., between avenues A and B

“Beatrice, the owner, has made this one of my favorite places. She’s Roman and serves the most delicious homemade pastas and breads. The atmosphere is comfortable and friendly and personal. It’s like you’re in Italy: The owner is there giving you food, saying hello. I go there often on the weekends for brunch.”

2. Patricia Field, 302 Bowery, between Houston and Bleecker streets
“I opened my shop when I was in my 20s. It’s now 40 years old and still there — I’m very proud of it. I’m especially proud of the crew who runs it; they’re doing good. I walk in there and feel like the grandmother visiting my grandchildren.”


3. Il Buco, 47 Bond St., between Lafayette Street and Bowery
“I eat there at least once or twice a week. It’s all about organic food. There’s a page [in the menu] about all the different olive oils. I love it. The food is delightful and it’s only a block and a half away from me. I can eat there without making it a big trip.”


4. Frock, 170 Elizabeth St., between Spring and Kenmare streets
“For most people, this boutique is still a secret. I go in there for a project and then I find something for myself. Their focus is late ’80s-’90s, and the selection is really great. I love their taste.”


5. Chinatown
“When I was a kid, it was three blocks, and now it has these tentacles all over downtown. It’s a jewel in this city. You go there and it’s filled with people. The food is fresh and not processed, there’s acupuncture and massages. You can pick up home furnishings — I have these huge red lanterns that open up like a fan, and they’re totally affordable and look gorgeous.”


6. Century 21, 22 Cortlandt St., between Broadway and Church streets
“What can I say? The price and selection are great, and they have samples that have never been made. I’ve been shopping there forever, so it’s always a part of my palette. Lots of pieces from ‘Sex and the City’ have come from there. They open at 7:45 a.m., and that’s the best time to go because the store is in order and there are no people there. Between then and noon, it’s golden.”


7. INA, 101 Thompson St., between Spring and Prince streets
“This consignment shop is favorite haunt of mine where I found an iconic, a 1970s vintage fur coat while shopping with SJP. She wears it throughout the series and in the movie (above.) I’ve been going there since at least the mid-’90s. You can always find something that’s one of a kind.Items might be from last season or from five years ago, but they won’t be recognizable.”


8. Rockaway Beach
“I bought an apartment there four years ago. It’s a stunning drive. You arrive in 25 minutes and the ocean’s right there! I think people who live there year-round feel like it’s their secret. As a child, my family went there. We’d alternate: one Saturday Jones Beach, one Saturday Rockaway Beach. It was just one of my favorite places. I’m going to make it my retreat over there with a Jacuzzi and steam room.”


9. Agnanti, 19-06 Ditmars Blvd., Astoria, Queens
“This place is kind of tucked away, but I’ve been going for years. Sometimes we’ll go after work, or when my Greek friends are in town. It’s Greek, but with a Turkish style of food. The space is rustic, not fancy, but the food is delicious; The fried eggplant is fabulous; the seafood is gorgeous, their lamb — they use a lot of yogurt. It’s very traditional.”

Black is the new Black

I can't help but laugh when fashion magazines claim that Brown, Navy - or what have you, is the "NEW Black".  It inevitably get's published somewhere every year.  Let's be honest no other color will ever replace black. Black will always be Black. Why do they insist on trying to replace Black? Isn't Black a staple for every wardrobe?  For me it's a mainstay. ...And when I'm stumped on what to wear, it's nice to know that I can just fall back on something black and still feel chic.  One thing is for sure...Black is not going away & it never will.

Coffee Talks: Leighton Meester

 ....Yes, I just posted about  Leighton Meester the other day, but I have to share a coffee pic when I find them.  Apparently this shot was taken - post taping her show: Gossip Girl - or perhaps during a break.  ...She doesn't quite look as "tailored" as the previous post, but I'm assuming that they don't tape her in her uggs.  I like uggs...just not with my tights.  Not so cute. These tights are little different then the last pair.  ..Not as detailed, but still super cute.  I need to get myself a pair.

While we're on the subject of stockings...I want to talk about another trend I like, but don't know if I can swing wearing it.  ....It's the whole socks with shoes look.  What do you think about that?  It was all over the runway during fall fashion week.  I just don't know if I can pull it off for everyday wear.

Coffee Talks: Leighton Meester aka: Blair Waldorf

Oh yum...I hate hose. I avoid them altogether ...but tights...that's a different story. Check out Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl: Blair Waldorf) sporting these hot little floral lace tights. I want a pair. I'm always looking for ways to make my wardrobe a little less ordinary ...and these tights would accomplish that for sure!  She's got her cup'o-joe and looks ready to go.  I love how the coat compliments the tights.
So cute!

Love is a Battlefield

Military Chic!
Fortunately for me love isn't a battlefield...but it's a great song and a fun title for this military inspired post. I'm a "girly-girl". I don't really care much for masculine clothes for myself, unless we're talking Military inspired....That's a different story. I really like the dark, earthy green and brown tones. ...And the bronze buttons are hot too. I believe that you can pull off the military look while maintaining your femininity at the same time. There is something very chic about those tailored waistlines and v-neck jackets.

Accessory Report:Pointy Pumps

There is something so sexy about pointy pumps - especially with a little exposed toe-cleavage. Last year the pointy toe pump was replaced with the round toe, but I was defiant and wore them anyways and probably looked like a fashion disaster victim. Now, according to this report at Who, What, Wear...I don't have to be defiant this year because they're back. ...& that is something to celebrate.
