Inspiration Workshop #15: Books

I'm participating in the Gussy Sews Inspiration Workshop!
The Prompt: Inspiring Books
I am not a big reader.  I wish I was, but sadly, I never have been.  I like to read magazines, but I think I really spend more time looking at the pictures then actually reading the articles.  I remember when I was a child, I was told I was going to have to read a lot when I went to college.  I was shocked and  saddened because I dislike reading so much.  This year I have actually finished a few books.  Depending on your interests, you may or may not find them "inspiring" but they were for me.

Inspiration Workshop #14: Vintage

I'm participating in the Gussy Sews Inspiration Workshop!
The Prompt: Vintage
I always get excited when I get my hands on cool, vintage stuff.  I love old/retro items.  Though you may never get the opportunity to hear it, most old stuff has a story.  ...& There's a pretty good chance that your old collectibles weren't mass-produced over in China.  ...& that is a wonderful thing!

Here are some of my personal favorite vintage pieces:

     Top to bottom:
1. Our 1975 IH Scout II

2. Ok, so this one is a stretch...but it represents Vintage wine, & who doesn't love vintage wine?

3. My Grandmother's Production Soldier war pin from WWII.
She was Rosie the Riviter!

4. My Vintage Jane Shilton Leather Clutch - which just so happens to be up for sale at The Paisley Tab!

Do you have a favorite vintage item?
This stuff gets me excited so...please share!!

P.S. I'm heading into the Labor Day weekend a little early.
This will be my last post for a few days.

I'll be back next week with some fresh blogging material!  Can't wait!

{ Have a FUN // SAFE // GORGEOUS long weekend! }

My favorite color is PURPLE.  You probably gathered that from the above pics.  It has always been my favorite color.  I love purple because there are so many beautiful shades of it.  Purple can be rich, luxurious, and royal.  It can also be soft, delicate, and feminine.  It's my favorite color, but I don't incorporate into my life that much.  I don't wear a lot of purple and I don't decorate with it either.  I did however tie purple into my wedding - purple dresses, flowers, & decorations.  I also happen to love purple flowers such as lavender and lilac.   What is your favorite color?

Inspiration Workshop #12: Front Porch

I'm participating in the Gussy Sews Inspiration Workshop!
The Prompt: Front Porch
You can barely see it, but my front porch is situated behind this jungle.  I call my husband a plant hoarder.  He is the "green-thumb" in the family.  He is constantly bringing home more stuff to plant and you can see that in the photo above.  Our backyard is equally as full of plants and flowers, but for this post we're concentrating on the Front Porch.  The front porch is a place my husband and I spend quite a bit of time.  It's relaxing and we can see and visit all of our neighbors from it.  On sunny days we can sit there and stay shaded from the heat.  We sit out here a lot in the evenings while we eat dinner or just to relax with a glass of wine to reflect on our days.  I love our front porch, it's charming and I consider it another room in my home.

Inspiration Workshop #9: The Beach

I'm participating in the Gussy Sews Inspiration Workshop!
The Prompt: The Beach
It's hard to believe that I ever considered myself a sun worshiper.  But sadly, I was.  For quite awhile actually.  Overtime, I started to notice the toll my skin was taking so I have since backed off.  I now have a new appreciation for my very pale skin.  I wish I would've recognized that a long time ago!
So I no longer worship the sun, but I never lost my love for the beach!  I love the warmth of the sun, the beauty of the ocean, the taste of salt on my lips, the yummy smell of coconut sunscreen, and the feeling of sand between my toes.  There is just something so harmonious about The Beach.  ...any beach.  I could sit and watch the waves for hours on end.  The beach has an undeniable peace about it that always leaves me feeling so relaxed.  I have many happy memories from my childhood through my adult life of vacations to the beach.  I am thankful for those getaways and I often find myself reminiscing about those times in the dead of winter.  One thing is for sure.  Going to "The Beach" never gets old!  ....And if I'm lucky, God willing....I will find myself retired with my hubs somewhere near Hanalei Beach on the island of Kauai....someday.

Inspiration Workshop #7: Sunshine

I'm participating in the Gussy Sews Inspiration Workshop!
The Prompt: Sunshine
I suppose I should talk about sunny things - like heat, the beach, vacations, and or sun.  ...But the beauty of the Gussy Sew's inspiration workshop is that there aren't any strict rules.  You can just write about what you think of when you're given the prompt.  So today's prompt is Sunshine...but when I think of Sunshine, I think of my husband.  Beyond being my best-friend, soul-mate, or spouse, HE is my SUNSHINE.  He is the light of my life and I am head over heels madly in love with this man.  I am so thankful that God brought the two of us together.  He brings me so much joy and I can't imagine my life without him.  I knew he was a catch when I married him, but even since our wedding back in 2006, I feel like I have gotten to know him and now appreciate him on so many deeper levels.  He is one of the most caring, selfless human beings that I have ever met & a good example of someone I want to be more like.  He is MY BETTER HALF!  I truly feel like the luckiest girl alive to be married to such an amazing & handsome man.

Inspiration Workshop #6: Pamper Yourself

I'm participating in the Gussy Sews Inspiration Workshop!
The Prompt: Pamper Yourself
I can honestly say I don't pamper myself very often.  ...So for this prompt, I'm taking a walk down memory lane.  This walk back in time will take us to Hawaii - October of 2006!  My honeymoon!  My husband planned a sunset couples massage for us and it was out of this world!  The massage included wine and fruit, soak time in the hot tub while watching the sun go down and then concluded with our deep tissue massages as the sun fell off the horizon! It was heavenly!  We liked it so much that we planned another sunset couples massage during our vacation last September at Turtle Bay on the North Shore of Oahu.  ...And as you can imagine it was once again, AMAZING - and I'm ready for another one!
Bottom Line:
Sunset + Ocean + Hawaii + Massage + Husband = Happy Girl!
